TEAGAN STANAWAY

SUPPORT WORKER

ABOUT ME:

Hi, I’m Teagan, an individual deeply passionate about the intersection of creativity and compassion. My enthusiasm for makeup transcends mere aesthetics; I view it as a powerful medium for self-expression and a means to cultivate confidence. Each brushstroke and colour choice allows me to convey my personality and emotions, transforming my face into a canvas that reflects my inner self. This artistic pursuit not only brings me joy but also serves as a reminder of the beauty that can be found in individuality. Additionally, my love for animals, particularly cats and dogs, enriches my life immeasurably. The simple act of sharing a cuddle or engaging in playful antics with these furry companions brings a sense of warmth and happiness that is truly unparalleled.

EXPIERENCE:

While I may not have direct experience in support work, I am an autistic individual who has encountered a variety of challenges throughout my life. These challenges range from social misunderstandings to navigating a world that frequently lacks accommodations for neurodiversity. In addition to my autism, I have also dealt with anxiety, which can make even the most mundane situations feel daunting. Despite these obstacles, I have dedicated myself to overcoming difficulties, building my confidence, and forging my own unique path. This journey has not only shaped my personal growth but has also equipped me with valuable insights into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). My experience as a participant has empowered me to advocate for myself and others, fostering a deeper understanding of the system's intricacies. Through resilience and determination, I continue to demonstrate that progress is achievable, even in the face of adversity. My lived experiences have instilled in me a profound empathy for others who may be navigating similar challenges. I believe that my journey can serve as a source of inspiration for those who feel overwhelmed by their circumstances. By sharing my story and advocating for neurodiversity, I aim to contribute to a more inclusive society that recognizes and values the strengths of individuals like myself. Ultimately, my commitment to personal growth and advocacy reflects my belief that, despite the difficulties we may encounter, there is always a path forward. I am profoundly dedicated to advocating for mental health awareness. I believe in the importance of fostering an environment where individuals feel safe to share their struggles and triumphs. Whether it is through offering a kind word, lending a listening ear, or extending a helping hand, I strive to be a source of support for those in need. My commitment to this cause is reflected in my interactions, where I aim to create meaningful connections that uplift and empower others.
