EXPERIENCE: I have been working as a disability support worker for the past year and a half, during which I have effectively applied the knowledge gained from my Certificate III in various client interactions. My experience encompasses a diverse range of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disabilities (ID), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), arthritis, acquired brain injuries, and bipolar disorder. I am committed to continuous learning and skill enhancement, striving to provide the highest level of support possible. My hands-on approach and dedication to my role allow me to foster an environment where clients can thrive and achieve their personal goals. I have worked extensively with individuals facing psychosocial disabilities, focusing on promoting independence, skill development, and community engagement. Currently, I support a variety of clients, including an 18-year-old with ID and ASD, helping them to cultivate essential life and job skills, as well as a 12-year-old with ASD, who I assist in forming new social connections and accessing community resources. Additionally, I provide weekly support to a woman in her 40s who has an acquired brain injury, bipolar disorder, and complex needs, ensuring her self-care routines are maintained and her requirements are met. My adaptability and ability to read emotional cues enable me to respond effectively to the unique needs of each individual. I am eager to continue my journey in this field, working with new clients to help them pursue their aspirations and enhance their quality of life.
