RACHELE BROWN

SUPPORT WORKER

ABOUT ME: My name is Rach, and I have an interesting background that shapes who I am today. I was raised on a farm in a quaint town in New South Wales, which makes my transition to urban living quite significant. Approximately four years ago, I relocated to Brisbane, where I now reside with my daughter, affectionately referred to as my little mini-me, and our beloved dog. Outside of my professional commitments, I enjoy a variety of activities; you might catch me at the gym, enjoying the sun at the beach, scaling a mountain, or simply relishing a relaxed day at home with my baby girl. I have a bubbly personality and a joy for life, I thrive when being able to help client build skills and live their best lives!

EXPERIENCE: Since 2018, I have dedicated my career to being a support worker, gaining extensive experience in assisting individuals with a variety of disabilities and mental health. My professional journey has included roles as a youth worker, where I have provided care and support to traumatized children and those exhibiting challenging behaviours. I have collaborated closely with both internal and external services and stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to care. My responsibilities have included guiding children in making informed choices and fostering a sense of ownership over their decisions. I have effectively worked within a team to create a supportive environment that emphasizes positive relationships, care, and supervision for young people. Additionally, I have actively contributed to the development of life skills through daily routines, including meal preparation, homework assistance, household chores, and hygiene practices. In my role, I have focused on providing guidance to enhance both social and personal skills, as well as behaviour management and life skills. I strive to model mature and appropriate behaviours while engaging young people in activities tailored to their individual needs. I conduct meetings and group discussions with the young people to address their needs and aspirations for future outcomes. I have worked with individuals facing challenges such as ASD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, trauma, PTSD, and severe mental health issues, always focusing on their strengths and interests to support their growth and development in a planned and supportive manner.
