ABOUT ME: My name is Melissa Beattie, and I am the proud mother of four sons, whose ages range from 11 to 25 years. In addition to my children, I am also a grandmother to two delightful grandchildren: a two-year-old girl and a five-month-old boy, both of whom I cherish immensely. I find great joy in spending quality time with my family and friends, particularly during our outings to the beach and local creeks. The active energy of the ocean captivates me, while the serene and peaceful nature of the creeks makes me feel calm. I am also a big animal lover and have a playful dog called Mike.

EXPERIENCE: My 11-year-old son has a diagnosis of ADHD, ASD Level 2 & undiagnosed GDD. I am his primary carer and have supported him throughout his whole life to build skills, develop his routine and learn how to make his way in the world. Combined with my lived experience I am a current swim instructor/coach which I have been for the past 24 years. During my time as a Swim teacher/ coach I have worked with a number of children with disabilities. I have worked with Non-verbal and neurodivergent children, teaching them learn to swim and navigate the water safety. The qualifications I have with swimming range from teaching babies (3 months) to squad level (14 years). I am also a teacher assessor for all levels. I am currently studying my certificate in individual support; this course has equipped me with lots of knowledge that I can implement into supporting clients. I am a very kind and caring person, and I am excited to put my lived experience and learned skills into action and help participants work through their goals. With my readiness to learn and eagerness to help build participants capacities I look forward to connecting with clients.
